350 Identifying Malnutrition in Emergency General Surgery (EGS): A Systematic Review

Abstract Aim Emergency general surgery (EGS) practice is high risk. Surgery a key part of treatment, with resultant catabolic stress and frequent need for nutritional support. Aims this study were to examine the current methods defining determining malnutrition in EGS. This included examining use nutrition screening assessment tools, other measures malnutrition. Method Medline, Embase, CINAHL, trial registries relevant journals published between January 2000 2022 searched studies adult patients any EGS diagnosis, managed operatively or conservatively an status. Mixed populations if more than 50% results could be separately extracted. Studies whereby had received support excluded. Results From 6,700 screened, 324 full texts retrieved, 31 analysis.
